Chapter One

He walked in and sat in the back of the lecture. He heard that she was one of the best in the field. She was giving a lecture on Archeology and the myths and beliefs of Egypt. She was passionate about her work. She loved what she did. She didn’t see him come in. She was so caught up in what she was saying she didn’t hear the bell. When she turned around everyone was gone besides him. He got up and walked to her. He needed to give her the letter that he carried. He was hoping that she would accept his offer.

“Hello, I have something for you. I am going to go sit down while you read it, then we can talk” he quickly handed her the letter and sat back down.

In the letter:

Doctor Thompson,

Hello, My name is Doctor Daniel Jackson. I know you are probably wondering why you are getting this letter. Well what I can tell you is that I work for the air force. I am an archeologist. I need some help in my field. You will be making really good pay. Housing and car are included. Please accept this offer. I am really looking forward to working with you. I have sat in at a few of your lectures.

You are really passionate in what you do. If you are interested in this please let me know. I am the one that handed you this letter. All of your questions will be answered at the place where I work.

Sincerely,

Doctor Jackson

Although Jennifer did like what she did, she needed to know that there was more out there. She got tired of teaching kids who don’t listen. She was so passionate with her work, but the children seem not to care. She decided to take the job. She needed to get a change of scenery. Something about his smile she knew she could trust him.

“Doctor Jackson, I accept your offer.” Jennifer smiled sweetly.

“Alright we will ship out tomorrow. Can you be ready by then?”

“Sure can, thanks, Do you need my number, since it isn’t listed. That way you can get a hold of me when its time to go. Give me an hour warning.”

“Yeah I do need your number. Thanks.”

Jennifer gave Daniel her phone number. She thanked him for the opportunity, although yet she did not know what she was going to do. She did think it was weird how the air force needed another Archeologist. Daniel grabbed his stuff and walked out the door. He was so happy that she said yes. The fact that she’s as passionate with her work as he is made him want to choose her.

Jennifer took one look around the classroom and started to cry. She really was going to miss this place. She knew however that she needed more pay, and so she grabbed what was left of her stuff and closed the door. On the way home she thought about the events. She had never seen him in her lectures before. She would have remembered him because he was cute. He had dark blue eyes, and a perfect smile. A body to die for.

When she got home she decided to pack as much as she was going to take with her and then she decided to take a bubble bath. She figured she should relax as much as she could. She was just so nervous about the events that tomorrow would bring. She was so lost in thought she almost missed the phone ringing.

“Hello” she answered annoyed

“Doctor Thompson, This Is Doctor Jackson, I was just letting you know that a car will be at your place at 8 to take you to the airport.”

“Thanks, and please call me Jennifer. I mean we are going to work together.”

“Alright no problem Jennifer. Do you need me to rent a truck for your things?”

“No I only have three suitcases that I am taking. I will just buy new things when I get there. Thank you though Doctor Jackson.”

“Please call me Daniel. Alright I will see you at the airport. Remember car will be here at 8.” He smiled and hung up the phone.

She was exhausted from teaching kids who won’t listen. She walked back into her room and laid down on her bed for the last time. She was having so many thoughts that ran through her head. She was so happy to get out of this place. There were so many bad memories that took place in this town. She was so ready for a fresh start.

She just hoped she wouldn’t have another nightmare. She was so tired of having them. They terrified her, having to relive the things from the past, day after day, night after night. All she wanted to do was put it behind her. With her moving, she hoped that she would be able to do just that. She laid down and pulled out her book that she was reading. She got through one chapter when she fell asleep. It was shortly after 11pm when she fell asleep.

Around 3am she woke up crying. Yet again she had another nightmare. She looked at the clock next to her, 3am. ‘Damn, I wish I could have slept the whole night.’ She thought. She gets up and goes into the living room to see if she can find her sleeping pills. She needed to go back to sleep. Her body and mind were both exhausted from running a mile a minute.

She found what she was looking for, she took two and went back to bed. She fell asleep about an hour later. She doesn’t know if it was the sudden pounding on the door that woke her up or the telephone ringing. She got up, walked to the phone, and answered it.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Jennifer, its Daniel. I was letting you know the driver would be there early.” Daniel said.

“Oh then that must be him banging on the door.”

“Yea probably.”

“Alright. I will be ready in five to leave.”
