Chapter Two

Jennifer got ready and was in the car on the way to airport. In two hours she would be in Colorado, where her new life is at. She frowned when she remembered how hard it was to make friends where she was. ‘I just hope I fit in’ She said sadly to herself. She must have dozed off because next thing she knew Daniel was tapping her on the shoulder telling her she was here.

She was a little embarrassed that she fell asleep, but she did need the sleep. She gathered up her belongings and followed Daniel. He showed his badge at the entrance, and told them that he had a guest that she would soon be working there. They handed her a visitors badge and let them pass.

Daniel took Jennifer to General Hammonds office. He was happy that General Hammond would let him have some help. He knew she was going to have to sign a confidentiality agreement before he could tell her anything.

*Knock, Knock* Daniel knocked on General Hammonds door.

“Enter”

“General, this is Doctor Thompson, I hired her to help me out around here.” Daniel shyly stated.

“Well Doctor Thompson, have a seat. I need you to sign these before I can tell you anything.”

Jennifer looked down at the papers in front of her. It was not an application, but a confidentiality agreement. She was a little confused. She had no idea why she had to sign one of these.

“Uh General, what happens if I don’t sign this?”

“Then you don’t get to work here. Everyone has to sign one. Doctor Jackson even had too.”

Jennifer Grabbed the pen and signed her name. She could not believe her ears when the general told her a lot of the things. After the General explained everything he stood up and put out his hand to shake hers.

“Glad to have you here Doctor Thompson”

“Please call me Jennifer,”

They shook hands and Daniel got up to give her a tour. He showed her the gate, the Mess hall, and their office. They were both going to be sharing Daniels office. She saw all the artifacts and her eyes went wide. She had never seen so many. He handed her a paper that was in ancient Egypt and asked if she could read it. She read it with no problem, like she had been speaking it her whole life.

She sat down at the other desk that was there. He put a few artifacts in front of her that he knew she could read. Since he didn’t have time to read those. He was working on translating some tablets that are in Gou’ld, and he was having problems. So he let her work on that stuff while he tried to get this done.

A few hours later Daniel saw her get up to get some coffee. He continued to look at her. She was beautiful. She had Brown hair, Blue eyes, nice body. He was brought back out of his trance when she asked him if he wanted some coffee. He looked at his cup and could use a refill.

She poured him a cup of coffee and went back to work. An hour later and she was done with her translations. She heard Daniel mumble something under his breath. She walked over to see what he was working on. She couldn’t understand the language. She saw he was having a lot of trouble. She also looked up at the clock and saw that it was time for lunch.

She knew he needed a break so she snuck up behind him and put her hands over his eyes. He grumped a little bit but laughed. He smiled when he turned around and saw it was her.

“Are you hungry? I say its lunch time. My stomach is growling. Plus it looks like you need a break.”

“Sure I could eat. I am just having problems with this Gou’ld tablet.”

“Why don’t you teach me the language sometime. Then I can help you on those as well. Right now though I’m starving.”

They both got up and walked out the door. They sat there and talked and ate for a while. They found that both had lost people dear to them. He lost his parents, she lost hers, His wife died. Her husband died. So they had a few things in common.

They were starting to form a great friendship, and unspoken bond. They looked at the time and realized that they had been sitting there for 2 hours just talking. They both figured it was time to get back to work. So they got up, put their trays up and went back to their office.

Daniel figured now was as good of a time as any to teach her the Gou’ld language. So he pulled a chair closer and had her sit down. When she sat down really close to him he could smell that she smelled like Strawberries. He loved that smell. She smelled so good.

Daniel had been so busy showing her the Gou’ld Language that he didn’t see Jack come in. Jack didn’t know that he hired someone. She was cute, he gave Daniel that much. He could see that just like Daniel she got lost in her work. ‘Good someone who can keep up with him.’ Jack said to himself. After five minutes of standing there watching them so lost in thought he spoke up.

“Uh Daniel.”

Still there was no answer, He knew he was going to have to do better go get his attention.

“DANIEL, earth to Daniel, are you there?” Jack was annoyed slightly when he said that.

Daniel jumped not aware that anyone besides him and Jennifer were in here.

“What”

“You do remember we have a briefing right?”

“Shit, I forgot. Jennifer, this is Jack, Jack, this is Jennifer, Do you think you can handle this for me till I get back?” he smiled at Jennifer with that million dollar smile.

“Sure, no problem.”

Daniel got up to follow Jack out of the room. Jack had never seen Daniel this happy, although he wasn’t going to say anything. Jack and Daniel walked down the hall into the conference room. They had a mission that they were going on first thing tomorrow. They looked at the M.A.L.P. images and realized that their were ruins that needed to be studied. Daniel was in heaven. He loved these kind of missions.
