They were talking about the mission, when Daniel spoke up.

“Uh General, I would like to take the new girl to help me with the Ruins. I have been teaching her the language of Gou’ld. By the looks of this, that’s what they are. I will keep an eye on her.” Daniel smiled.

“Daniel, I don’t think that’s a good idea. She hasn’t been trained, who knows what could happen.” Jack said.

“Please Jack, I know that everything will be fine. The first sign of Danger I promise we will pack up and leave.”

“Alright, General, what do you say?”

“SG1 You have a go. Daniel, keep and eye on her.”

“You have my word General.”

After they were dismissed Daniel walked back into his office to find her there still translating. He enjoyed watching her. He knew that there was something special about her. He was falling for her, which scared him. He just met her, but some how he knew that they were supposed to be together.

“Damn it, come on you stupid translation!!!” Jennifer swore.

Daniel just laughed, he had felt that way many times. Jennifer jumped not knowing he was there. She looked cute when she was angry.

“Well I talked general Hammond into letting me take you with us through the Stargate.”

“Do you really think I am ready?”

“Yeah I do, I mean you pretty much picked up the Gou’ld language in 2 hours.”

“True, Alright, what time do we leave?”

“At 8am.”

“Alright, can I head out and see if I can find a hotel?”

“Work is done for today, but, you don’t need to head out to find a hotel. You can stay in my spare room or here on base. We all have quarters here on base.”

“It doesn’t matter to me. I just need a bed. I’m tired.”

“Alright its done you can stay with me tonight.”

They got up and grabbed their things. Daniel and Jennifer were so lost in talking when they walked out the door, that Jennifer didn’t see Jack. She ran smack into him. Jack mumbled something, and looked at the shocked blue eyes that were staring back at him.

“I’m sorry Jack, I wasn’t paying attention as to where I was going. Daniel and I are leaving for the day.”

“Its ok, So where you staying at Jennifer?”

“Um for tonight probably Daniel’s. I am going to have to look for a place when I get back.”

“You know you could stay here on base.”

“I know. Its fine though. He said he had a spare room.”

“Ok well we will see you tomorrow”

Jack was a little shocked, Daniel had never done anything like that. He knew something was up. He could see that sparkle that was back in his eye. His best friend has been hurt so many times. He hopes that if he falls for her that she won’t hurt him. Until then, he is going to be a protective figure for Daniel. He wasn’t going to go away at all.

Jack watched them walking and talking and laughing almost the whole way. ‘Please don’t let her hurt him.’ He thought as he watched them disappear. Daniel caught the protective look in Jack’s eyes. Daniel just hoped that Jack didn’t do anything stupid. For once, even if it’s just talking to her, he is happy.

They got into his car and they drove to his house. When he pulled into the drive way, she was shocked. It was so big, and really pretty. He showed her around. She put her stuff into the room where she was staying. She saw tons of artifacts there as well. Along with notebooks and other stuff. She was so shocked. She wish she would have brought the artifacts that she had collected, with her as well.

He saw how excited she was when she saw all the artifacts, he himself was also when he found them. He walked over and sat on the couch and just watched her trace her fingers over each artifact. Studying it, seeing the story that was told from it, from the pictures that were on it.

She got tired of looking at them and turned around and saw Daniel smiling at her.

“What?”

“Nothing, I do the same things too. Its nice to find someone who appreciates the work like I do.”

“Oh ok, Well I’m going to go to bed, I’m beat, and I bet I have a long day tomorrow.”

“Alright good night. If you need anything I am in the next room.” He pointed in the direction.

She smiled and nodded, then hugged Daniel goodnight. Then she walked into her room and shut the door. She changed and was winding down from earlier. It was so hard just to hug him. She slipped into bed and fell immediately to sleep.

Daniel fell asleep about the same time she did. He was not a morning person, and all the translations that he had here had already been translated by Jennifer.
